How Do I Install Citrix

Workspace?

Installing Citrix Receiver Workspace is recommended for accessing the vLab on a mobile device and for saving your files on your mobile device.

First, install Citrix ReceiverWorkspace.

To install Citrix, find your operating system and device below and follow the instructions for installation.

Note: If you have already installed Citrix Receiver on your desktop, you can launch it in Windows by clicking the black Citrix Receiver icon or clicking the vLab application from the Windows Start Menu. On a Mac, you can find Citrix by searching for it with the Spotlight feature.

Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10

  1. Navigate to http://receiver.citrix.com
  2. Click on the blue "Download Receiver for Windows" button.
  3. Click the checkbox next to "I agree to the terms of the Citrix License Agreement" and click the "Continue" button.
    • In Internet Explorer, you may choose "Run."
    • In other browsers, double click on the "CitrixReceiver.exe" from your download list and choose "Run."
  4. Proceed through the installation by clicking "Next" and eventually "Finish."

You should now be able to open vLab by logging into http://vlab.uga.edu with your MyID and password.

How Do I Transfer a Session to Another Device?

It is possible to push your active vLab session from one device to another. To do this, simply create a session in another device. Your current session will close and migrate over to the other device.

How Do I Access Local Drives from vLab?

From the first vlab page (vlab.uga.edu), once you are logged in – click your name and in the drop-down menu select “Activate”.

Vlab should prompt you to download a configuration file (ending in .cr).  Download the file and find it in your “downloads” folder.  Double-click the file and click “ADD” to add UGA as a safe vlab source.

Log in to the Citrix receiver

From the left hand side “+” icon, add the Vlab Application.  Once added, double click the Vlab Icon to log in.

Once logged in, your local drives should be available.

Frequently Asked Questions

When I try to start a vLab session, the page asks me to download "launch.ica." Why?

This is more than likely because the Citrix Receiver application is not installed on your computer. Please see the section "Documentation" for instructions on how to install this file.

If you have Receiver installed but are still getting a file download prompt for launch.ica, you can safely download this file, then double click on it to load vLab.

Finally, some Adobe products use the .ica file extension; if an Adobe application attempts to open this file, you can use the "Open With..." option and choose "Citrix Receiver" as the application to run the file.

When I try to install the Citrix Receiver, I receive an error message...

Your computer may already have Citrix Receiver installed. Check your program list. If not, please contact the EITS Help Desk with a copy of the message you are receiving.

 

Installing Citrix certificate for Mac

Save the vlab-certChain.zip file and extract the contents (usually by double-clicking on the file)

2.      Open Keychain Access Manager (you can search for this by using Spotlight Search, which looks like a magnifying glass). Navigate to File > Import Items.

Browse to the vLab certificates and open it.

  


3.      If prompted, select System in the Keychain drop-down and click Add.

How long is my session active after I disconnect without logging out?

EITS will periodically update vLab with new software for use; however, some software will be limited due to licensing, cost, and to ensure stability and speed of the service. Contact the EITS Help Desk to request a specific piece of software.

Why do I keep getting the error message "Citrix

This is most likely caused by the new update to Google Chrome. Specifically, the disabling of Java disables Chrome's ability to find the Citrix ReceiverWorkspace. To enable Java on chrome:
