Enabling forwarding will cause all incoming messages to your UGAMail account to be sent to the account of your choice. Helpful if you manage multiple accounts. It is recommended that UGA employees NOT forward their UGAMail to an email address not provided by the University of Georgia. Please see the official policy regarding the Open Records Act and campus email. Faculty and Staff must elect to retain a copy on the server.

Note: Please ONLY use the method below for forwarding from your UGAMail account. We have discovered that "Connected Accounts" forwarding does not function properly.

Step-by-step Guides

Setting up an Inbox Rule

  1. Log into UGAMail
  2. Click on Settings in the upper-right corner (the gear icon, next to the bell icon and the question mark icon)
  3. Select Mail at the bottom of that drop-down menu under My app setting
  4. On the left side, click on Inbox Rules underneath Automatic Processing.
  5. Click the New icon (it looks like a + symbol)
  6. A pull-down menu will appear. Select Create a New Rule for Arriving Messages
  7. A new window will appear. Under Name, create a name for your rule (anything will work).
  8. Under When the message arrives and:, choose [Apply to All Messages]
  9. Under the pull-down menu Do the following, select Redirect the message to...
  10. Another window will pop up. At the top of this window, in the To field, enter the email address to which you wish to forward all of your messages. Click OK at the top once you have the email address entered.
    • At this point, a copy of every message will be saved on the server. If you want to forward the message and then delete the original from UGAMail (don't save local copy), then do the following:
      1. Click on More Options...
      2. Click on Add Action...
      3. Under Select One..., navigate to "Move, copy, or delete" and then choose Delete the message
  11. Click OK and then Save
    • Note: Two pop-up windows will appear. The first is just a confirmation of the creation of this rule. The second will warn you that enabling a filter through the UGAMail web interface will delete any disabled filters created by Outlook. If this okay, choose Ok

Setting up Forwarding

  1. Log into UGAMail
  2. Click on Settings in the upper-right corner (the gear icon, next to your name)
  3. Select Options at the bottom of that drop-down menu
  4. On the left side, click on Forwarding underneath Accounts.
  5. Select Start Forwarding and enter the e-mail address you would like to forward your account to
    1. Note: Make sure to check Keep a copy of the forwarded messages in Outlook WebApp if you would like to keep a copy of your messages in your UGAMail account.
  6. Click Save in the top of your screen

By default, the UGAMail junk filter is turned ON and it applies to all incoming messages before forwarding your email. This means that any legitimate messages that are incorrectly flagged as spam are moved to the Junk E-Mail folder in UGAMail, and they are not forwarded. Check your Junk E-Mail folder at if you believe you are missing forwarded messages.
