Recommendations

Some users have reported that legitimate pieces of e-mail are being delivered directly to their Junk E-Mail folders.

This is usually caused by the local Junk E-Mail filter included (and enabled by default) in email clients such as Outlook and Entourage.

  1. Disable the local junk e-mail filter in your Microsoft email program. See below for instructions. - this can cause @uga.edu messages to go to junk e-mail.
  2. Check your "Junk E-Mail" or "Spam" folder regularly for legitimate messages.
  3. Check your "Deleted Items" folder for legitimate messages. Messages in the "Junk E-Mail" folder automatically move to "Deleted Items" after 30 days.
  4. Messages older than 30 days in the "Deleted Items" folder are purged; messages can be restored up to 14 days after being purged from "Deleted Items." See Recovering Deleted Items (UGAMail) for details.
  5. Contact the EITS Help Desk if you believe an entire organization/departmental email servers or other email traffic is being incorrectly labeled as junk mail despite disabling your mail application's internal junk filter (see recommendation 1).
